For more than two decades, Alexis Jandreau worked with children in Lake County classrooms. Now, through Alexis Adapts Adventures, she is bringing that experience into a new kind of learning environment built around movement, connection, flexibility and meeting children where they are.

The program is designed for both neurodivergent and neurotypical children and gives families a small-group setting where learning can look a little different from a traditional classroom.

What Is Alexis Adapts Adventures?

Alexis Adapts Adventures combines academics with music, movement, stories, games and hands-on activities in a small-group environment.

Rather than asking every child to learn the same way, the program is built around the idea that children learn differently — and that flexibility, connection and individualized support can make a major difference.

Sessions can support academic skills while also helping children strengthen communication, executive functioning, emotional awareness, confidence, independence and school readiness.

A Class Where Kids Can Come as They Are

One of the most important parts of Alexis Adapts Adventures is that children are not expected to fit into one narrow idea of what participation should look like.

Children do not have to sit perfectly, communicate like everyone else, transition without support or hide the parts of themselves that may have made other environments difficult.

At the same time, the program is not only for children with special needs.

Neurotypical children are welcome too, creating an inclusive setting where kids can learn beside one another, practice friendships and build empathy, patience and acceptance.

For Alexis, that peer interaction is a major part of the experience. A group class gives children something one-on-one tutoring cannot: the opportunity to learn alongside other children and experience what it feels like to truly belong to a group.

Parents Are Part of the Experience

Parents are also part of the Alexis Adapts approach.

Families can take what happens during class and continue using those strategies at home, helping parents better understand how their child learns, communicates and responds to different situations.

That makes the experience about more than completing an activity or mastering one skill. It is also about giving families practical tools and strengthening the connection between parent and child.

More Than 20 Years of Experience Behind It

Alexis brings more than 21 years of experience as an elementary school educator with Lake County Schools to the program.

Through her broader business, Alexis Adapts, she also works with families through tutoring, parent coaching and IEP and 504 advocacy.

Alexis Adapts Adventures brings those different areas of experience together in a setting focused on helping children learn, connect and build confidence.

Building a Consistent Class Community

Right now, Alexis is working to grow the Tuesday class to at least five students who can attend consistently.

That number matters because the goal is not simply to fill seats. The group itself is part of the learning experience.

Having a consistent group gives children the opportunity to see familiar faces, practice social skills, develop friendships and become comfortable learning alongside peers week after week.

For families whose children have previously felt misunderstood, excluded or unsuccessful in other programs, taking that first step into a new class can feel significant. Alexis Adapts Adventures was created specifically to make that step a little easier.

How to Join Alexis Adapts Adventures

Alexis Adapts Adventures currently meets at Evolve Dance & Fitness Studio in Eustis.

The class is for children ages 4–10 and meets on Tuesdays.

Classes are $15 per session, and Step Up For Students Unique Abilities funding is accepted.

Families can register for Alexis Adapts Adventures through the Evolve Dance app, where the class is available with the studio's other class offerings.

For families looking for a place where their child can learn, move, connect with other children and be supported without having to change who they are, Alexis Adapts Adventures is creating another option right here in the Mount Dora area.

Because sometimes a child does not need to adapt to the class.

Sometimes the class needs to adapt to the child.
