This Weekend in Mount Dora: Pitmasters, Pro Wrestling, Paranormal Theater & 300 Drones Over Lake Dora | Sept. 11–13

Mount Dora is packing a lot into one weekend.

From Pitmasters & Pourers and professional wrestling to a 300-drone show over Lake Dora, opening weekend for a supernatural comedy, downtown art, live music and a packed schedule at Mount Dora Bistro, there’s plenty happening Friday through Sunday.

Here’s your guide to the weekend.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

Mount Dora Art League Artists Reception

5–8 PM | MDCA Downtown Pop-Up Gallery, 134 E. 5th Ave. | Free

Meet artists from the Mount Dora Art League, explore their latest work and enjoy live music during this downtown reception.

Art in the Alley

6–9 PM | Royellou Lane | Free

Art in the Alley returns to downtown Mount Dora with original work from local and emerging artists presented by Panache by Vintage Rose and Studio Art Farm.

Stroll Royellou Lane, meet the artists and browse paintings, illustrations, handmade pieces and more.

Eric Martin — The Voice of Mr. Big

Doors 6 PM | Show 7 PM | Mount Dora Music Hall, 520 N. Baker St.

Eric Martin, the voice behind rock band Mr. Big, comes to Mount Dora with PJ Farley and Ben Hans, plus special guests Francesca Tarantino and The 789’s Acoustic.

A free post-show meet-and-greet is also planned.

Blithe Spirit — Opening Night

8 PM | Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse

The IceHouse Theatre opens its run of Noël Coward’s classic supernatural comedy Blithe Spirit on Friday night.

The story follows novelist Charles Condomine after a séance accidentally summons the ghost of his first wife, creating a paranormal love triangle and plenty of chaos.

Comedy Hour at Mount Dora Bistro

Friday is Comedy Hour at Mount Dora Bistro as part of its rotating Evening in Paris programming.

Before the show, Apéro in Paris runs from 4–5 PM with an open bar featuring cocktails, wine and beer, canapés and live saxophone.

Cars & Coffee Mount Dora

8–10 AM | American Legion Post 35, 920 S. Highland St.

Classic cars, coffee and a laid-back Saturday morning gathering return to American Legion Post 35 for the monthly Cars & Coffee.

9/11 Memorial Ride

Registration 8:30–10 AM | AMVETS Post 1992

Fire & Iron Motorcycle Club Chapters 1 and 2, Sea2Sea4PTSD and Gator Harley-Davidson host an escorted ride through Lake County honoring those lost on September 11.

Kickstands go up at 10:30 AM.

Nathaniel Bell Community Resource & Recreation Center Grand Opening

10 AM–1 PM | 1010 Lincoln Ave. | Free

The City of Mount Dora celebrates the opening of its new 31,100-square-foot Nathaniel Bell Community Resource & Recreation Center.

The grand opening includes music, food, kids activities, giveaways, tours, community organizations and opportunities to register for memberships.

Tea Apothecary at Mount Dora Bistro

1 PM | Mount Dora Bistro

Mount Dora Bistro’s Saturday Matinée in Paris takes the form of Tea Apothecary this weekend, pairing French tea with a guided tea-leaf and botanical blending experience.

Blithe Spirit

2 PM | Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse

Miss opening night? Blithe Spirit returns Saturday afternoon for another performance of Noël Coward’s supernatural comedy.

Pitmasters & Pourers

3–9 PM | Elizabeth Evans Park | Free admission

This is the big one.

Pitmasters & Pourers takes over Elizabeth Evans Park Saturday with BBQ, bacon, beer, food vendors and a full afternoon and evening of entertainment.

The lineup includes Thompson Square, Naome Bradshaw & The Dot Coms, professional wrestling featuring Russ Rollins and Amber Nova, a salute to veterans and first responders, college football, cornhole and more.

The night ends with a 300-drone light show over Lake Dora at 8:30 PM.

Plaid in the Park

Sunset Park

Mount Dora’s Scottish side takes over Sunset Park for the recurring Plaid in the Park celebration, featuring Scottish music, food, drinks and entertainment from the City of Mount Dora Pipe Band.

Apéro in Paris at Mount Dora Bistro

4–5 PM | Mount Dora Bistro

Start Saturday evening with Apéro in Paris, the Bistro’s open bar hour featuring cocktails, wine, beer, canapés and live saxophone.

Later, the Bistro transitions into Evening in Paris and Club Privé, with dinner, cocktails, music and dancing carrying the evening into the night.

Guitars & Cars at Renninger’s

8 AM–2 PM | Renninger’s Antique Center

Guitars & Cars combines Big Al’s Lake County Musicians Swap Meet with a car cruise and show at Renninger’s.

Browse guitars, instruments and music gear, check out the cars and stick around for a Central Florida Blues Lovers jam around noon.

Mount Dora Village Market

9 AM–2 PM | Sunset Park

Spend Sunday morning downtown at the Mount Dora Village Market, featuring local vendors, food, produce and handmade goods in Sunset Park.

Blithe Spirit

2 PM | Sonnentag Theatre at the IceHouse

The weekend closes with another afternoon performance of Blithe Spirit at the IceHouse Theatre.

Sunday Live Music

Pisces Rising — waterfront live music, noon–3 PM

Eden Abbey Brewing Community — live music from 12:30–2:30 PM and again from 5–7:30 PM
